Noir Nights
Studded with Femme Fatales, the most cynical of Anti-Heroes and very questionable morals, Film Noir has been a favourite style of Hollywood filmmakers and audiences since its inception in the 1940s. Hyland Cinema is excited to bring the best classic noirs and neo-noir films to our audience on a monthly basis.

The Big Heat
July 15th - 2:45pm July 18th - 7:00pm |
Keep the coffee hot, Hugo. From one of the masters of cinema, Fritz Lang (Metropolis), The Big Heat is a shocking, hard boiled detective story like no other. Glenn Ford in a dramatic turn as Detective Bannion investigates the apparent suicide of a police officer, setting him off on a dark journey of discovery and revenge. Gloria Grahame plays a fantastic Femme Fatale as Debby Marsh, acting alongside a very young and intimidating Lee Marvin as mobster Mike Lagana. A quintessential noir staple, Hyland Cinema is very excited to bring this to audiences on the big screen in a new 4K restoration. |

MULHOLLAND DRIVE
25th Anniversary!
August 7th - 9:00 PM August 12th - 7:00 PM |
Lynch fans rejoice! August is jam-packed with David Lynch. Along with our screenings of Twin Peaks on the big screen, we celebrate Mulholland Drive's 25th Anniversary with 2 special shows as part of our Noir Nights series. I challenge you to name any other noir like this one. Cerebral, like moving through a dream, or in some cases a nightmare, Lynch takes film noir to its extremes in a one of a kind film that earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Director. |
